Nick Pope may have been a good goalie, but I prefer Ripley.

Pope is in a different class to Ripley.

That’s why he’s playing Premiership football and in the England squad.

Ripley has made some brilliant stops this season, if it wasn't for him the season would be well and truly over, so think about it in that sense.

Well I don't think Premier League football are a patch to league football, You got the likes of Wigan Athletic in League One who beat Manchester City and Rochdale who gave Tottenham Hotspur a good shot.

Funny how we latch onto players. Maguire has played more games than Nick for us and don't remember Pope ever coming close to scoring a goal.

The fact that Pope has played for Bury Town, Bury and Burnley is going to befuddle a number of hacks out there

Congratulations to Nick on his inclusion in the England World Cup squad

Well deserved, he’s the best English goalkeeper in the country

I dunno, y'know. Connor Ripley should be on the plane instead.

Is he the only player to have done that? Just throwing it out there.

There have not been any others, although Fred Wilkinson who was born in Bury Lancs in 1889 went on to finish his career with Bury St Edmunds in 1922

Congratulations Nick, but my god what a low quality squad!

It's going to be a long, long time before we can assemble a squad which will be capable of producing football that will lift the world cup. the prem consists of so many foreign players our own youngsters stand no chance.

I think that was demonstrated yesterday by the hapless Phil Jones getting skinned alive by Eden Hazard. I think he's going to have deja vu big time in Russia.

That's... not why England haven't won a World Cup recently. As ever, the reasons go much deeper.
